See why visitors do what they do, with Hotjar

Your analytics tell you what happened, how many people visited, where they landed, how many bought. What they can't tell you is why: why that page loses people, why the checkout stalls, why a button nobody clicks sits front and centre. Hotjar fills that gap. With heatmaps, recordings, and on-site feedback, we show you what your visitors actually experience, and turn it into changes that convert.

Understanding how real visitors use your site with Hotjar
The "why" behind the numbers

Analytics tells you what. It rarely tells you why.

You can see in your reports that a page has a high exit rate, or that people abandon the cart at step two. That's the what. The why, whether the form is confusing, the price came as a surprise, or the page just looked broken on their phone, is invisible in a spreadsheet of numbers.

That gap is where good decisions go to die. Teams stare at a drop-off, guess at a cause, and "fix" the wrong thing. Hotjar closes the gap by showing you the human side: where people move, click, hesitate, rage-click, and give up, plus what they'll tell you directly if you ask.

We use Hotjar not to collect pretty heatmaps, but to answer specific questions: where is this page losing people, and what would we have to change to keep them?

What we do with Hotjar

From heatmaps and recordings to feedback and a clear list of fixes, here is the work we take on.

Heatmaps

Click, move, and scroll maps that show where attention actually goes on your key pages, what people click, what they ignore, and how far down they really read.

Session Recordings

Watch real, anonymised visits and see exactly where people hesitate, loop back, or hit a wall, the moments a chart will never show you.

Surveys & Feedback

On-site surveys and feedback widgets that ask your visitors the questions your data can't answer, in their own words, at the moment it matters.

Funnels & Drop-off Analysis

We map where people fall out of your key journeys and pair the numbers with recordings, so a drop-off becomes a specific, fixable cause rather than a mystery.

Conversion Research

We pull heatmaps, recordings, and feedback together into a clear picture of what's holding your site back, the research that makes CRO and testing actually work.

Insight to Action

Insight is only worth something if it changes something. We translate what Hotjar reveals into concrete fixes and test ideas, then help you ship them.

Watching real session recordings to find friction
Watch, don't guess

Ten minutes watching real visitors beats an hour of guessing

There's a particular moment in this work that changes how a team thinks: watching a real person try to use their site and get stuck on something nobody ever noticed. A field that rejects a valid phone number. A "next" button below the fold. A popup that traps people on mobile. You can't argue with a recording.

  • We watch where it counts, sessions that abandoned, rage-clicked, or bounced from a key page, not random traffic.

  • We turn what we see into a short list of specific problems, ranked by how much they're likely costing you.

  • We pair the recordings with heatmaps and feedback, so a hunch becomes evidence.

It's the fastest way we know to find the friction that's quietly costing you sales.

How a Hotjar engagement runs with us

Reviewing user behaviour together
1. Set up & focus

We install Hotjar cleanly and point it at the pages and journeys that matter most, so you gather signal, not noise.

2. Watch & map

Heatmaps, recordings, and feedback on your key pages, reviewed carefully to find where visitors actually struggle.

3. Diagnose

We turn what we've seen into a clear, prioritised list of problems and opportunities, each tied to real evidence.

4. Fix & feed CRO

The findings become concrete changes and test ideas, feeding straight into optimisation and experimentation.

Why teams bring this to us

The insight is easy to collect and easy to waste

Anyone can switch on Hotjar and rack up a thousand recordings nobody watches. The value is in knowing which sessions to watch, what to look for, and what to do about it. We've spent years connecting the "what" from analytics with the "why" from behaviour, and turning both into changes that move the numbers. Hotjar is one of the tools we use to get there.

  • We know what to look for. Years of CRO and analytics work mean we spot friction fast, rather than scrubbing through recordings hoping to notice something.

  • We connect it to the data. Hotjar's "why" plus your GA4 "what" gives a full picture, not half of one.

  • We close the loop. Insight becomes fixes and tests, not a folder of recordings gathering dust.

Questions clients ask us

Straight answers to the things people usually want to know before they start.

How is Hotjar different from Google Analytics?

They answer different questions. GA4 tells you what's happening, how many, where, how much. Hotjar shows you why, by letting you see how real people move, click, and struggle. Used together they're far more powerful than either alone, and we set them up to complement each other.

Will Hotjar slow down my site or breach privacy?

Set up properly, the performance impact is small, and Hotjar is built to mask sensitive input by default, so you're not recording people's personal data. We configure it carefully and in line with your consent setup, so you get the insight without the risk.

We already have Hotjar but never look at it. Can you help?

Very common, and a good place to start. We'll focus your setup on the pages that matter, actually review the recordings and heatmaps, and turn months of unused data into a clear list of things to fix.

What kind of things does it actually reveal?

Usually the small, specific frictions that quietly cost sales: a confusing form field, a button people can't find, content nobody scrolls to, a step that breaks on mobile. Individually minor, together they add up to a real chunk of lost revenue.

Do I need a lot of traffic for this?

Less than you'd think. Because it's qualitative, even a modest number of recordings and a few hundred heatmap interactions can reveal clear patterns. It's often the fastest insight available to a lower-traffic site that can't yet run big A/B tests.

What happens after the research?

That's the important part. We hand you a prioritised set of findings and turn them into concrete changes and test ideas, so the research leads to a better-converting site rather than an interesting report nobody acts on.

Not sure why your site loses people?

Point us at the page that's underperforming, and we'll use Hotjar to show you where visitors struggle, and what to change to keep them.
